Bounty - The Long-lasting Quilted Quicker Thicker Picker Upper with More Life Per Roll

One in a Million

Nancy Walker as Rosie the waitress

Locally and nationally, there are thousands of new TV commercials produced every year. In spite of this prolific output, only a few of them become part of pop culture and are remembered years later.

One character that did become part of our national consciousness was Rosie. For decades, Bounty paper towels advertised themselves as "the quicker picker upper." From 1970 through 1990, TV commercials featured Bounty's spokesperson Rosie the Waitress, played by actress Nancy Walker of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda fame.

The Roll-after-roll Role

Rosie the waitress

Year after year, Rosie cleaned up spill after spill. Always with good humor, and always showing Bounty's superior performance to other brands. In dozens of 60-second commercials, Rosie demonstrated Bounty's speed in absorbency, volume of liquid storage, strength when wet, and cent-for-cent value.

The recurring role became such a regular part of daily television, she was named by AdvertisingAge magazine as one of the "Top 10 Female Ad Icons of All Time."

Great Product Still Delivers Great Ads

Fortunately for us, Bounty didn't run out of ideas with Rosie. We happen to think that the understated "Puppy Bowl" commercial is one of the best and funniest ads of the last several years. The simplicity of its truth drives home our need for Bounty in the home:
